Inspiration
Baroque Pyjama: The Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2009 collection originates from
experimenting with menswear pyjamas and fabrics. In doing so, Dolce & Gabbana returns to
its origins: Sicily and the richness of the Baroque period.
An aristocratic fashion mixes the elegance of Luchino Visconti’s cinematography with hand
crafted tailoring. Innovation is met with the study of geometric form: round, rectangular and
pentagonal shapes give the clothes a new structure in terms of silhouette and proportion.

Fabrics and materials
Mikado, silk, satin duchesse, brocade, fringed chiffon, crinoline detailing, plumetille veil,
floral tulle applique, plastic, satin and brocade patchwork.

Forms
Geometric: circle, rectangle, pentagon.
Dresses, jackets and skirts give the illusion of being sculpted. Structure is given by external
seaming while still remaining light and soft to the touch.

Rihanna once again topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her latest single “Take A Bow” which will also be released in the expanded version of her album which is set to release on June 17th.

The single made the second highest jump in Billboard history after jumping from number 53 to the number one spot. Second to Maroon 5’s “Makes Me Wonder” last year, jumping from number 64 to number one on the Hot 100.

In addition to that, “Take A Bow” had an opening week of 267,000 digital downloads, winning her two of the top three opening-week downloads in history. She was only surpassed recently by Mariah Carey’s Touch My Body, which hit the all time high number-one spot with 286,000 downloads last month, beating Rihanna’s Umbrella which debuted last year at 277,000.

At 21 years old, Alessandro creates works of art which he likes to define as instinctive and spontaneous using recovered daily materials like cigarette packets or receipts that subsequently intervene to become stylized faces, people and situations.
