Inspiration
Surrealism. A fascination with artists like Jean Cocteau, Salvador Dalí, Man Ray, with
the artistic wave of the 1920s and with the breaking of the rules brought the dreams, the
absurd, the game and the unthinkable in art, stating that when it comes to creativity anything
is possible.
This is the philosophy behind the Fall/Winter 2009/2010 Dolce&Gabbana collection that
brings to life a luxurious and feminine, yet absolutely innovative fashion, playing with
new proportions and the pairing of very different fabrics, precious materials and unexpected
details.
Fabrics and Materials
Silk Mikado with velvet prints, brocade, georgette plissé, wool crêpe, cloth, leather, cashmere,
tweed, flocade, Astrakhan, Kidassia and fox furs.
Colours
Black and white. Shocking pink. Grey. Blue. Gold touches.
Style
Coats, dresses and capes with important shoulders, butterflies or shell shaped without any
internal structure.
Short jackets made of different kinds of fur or with black fur pom-poms closed with
uniquely shaped jewelled buttons, for example hands that hold roses. The jewelled buttons
are made of turquoise, coral, amethyst, shell and wood.
Long shocking pink Kidassia furs.
Short brocade jackets with fox fur shoulders and Astrakhan on the back to be worn with
plissé georgette skirts.
Cloth cloaks entirely made of frills and capes with butterfly-shaped shoulders.
White Mikado dresses with pressed nets pattern, velvet print dresses with abstract drawings
and fur details.
Iconic Marilyn Monroe printed dresses in silk Mikado or made with embossed shocking
pink silk with grosgrain bows at the waist.
Dresses made of intertwined silk ribbons.
Accessories
Suede platforms with surreal details such as engravings of women’s profiles or facing of metals and
precious stones, watches, leaves, wood and grosgrain ribbons.
Suede, ostrich, padded leather, plissé leather with grey leopard-printed pony details “Miss Sicily”
bags of different dimensions.
“Katerine” clutches with jewelled locking made of crystals, turquoise, topaz and corall that recall the
details of the dresses.
Suede clutches printed with surreal faces.
Headbands made of leather gloves or ribbons and bows.
Necklaces made of intertwined turquoise, coral and shells.
Finale
White silk Mikado big evening gowns, long and short, with Marilyn Monroe prints contrasted with
